fuse Gelnamel by SensatioNail - Gone Fission Review

Hello!

Last week I purchased the fuse Gelnamel starter kit in Gone Fission. I was originally looking for the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel because I really liked it on Rachel's nails, but this caught my eye! First off, I LOVE gel polish! I don't even know how I had the patience to use regular nail polish before using gel polish. I always managed to smoosh and destroy hours of hard work, even with quick drying top coat. The fact that you are free to do whatever you want after curing the top coat with gel manicure was enough to have me running and never looking back! However, my nails are on the oily side, and gel polish rarely lasts a week in its finest form, and my habit of picking at them have left my nails brittle and peeling :( Anyways, so after reading that this fuse Gelnamel was the best of nail polish and gel polish, I thought I would give it a try and see if it was a little easier on my nails.

This is the packaging of the starter kit.

The kit comes with the fuse Gelnamel polish, an LED lamp and plug, cleanser, lint-free wipes, a nail file/buffer, and cuticle stick.

The instructions made it very clear that it was important that we buff the entire nail. My guess is that, since there is no need for base coat, buffing the nail will make it easier for the polish to adhere, as well as to ensure the polish applied evenly.

After buffing and cleansing the nail, you are supposed to apply a very thin coat, and supposedly the polish is self-leveling! I was not able to confirm how this is so since my polish had lots of glitter and it was difficult to tell; however, I really do want to see how this works with a solid color in the future. Next step, place finger in lamp for 30 seconds. If you're satisfied with one coat, cleanse and move onto the next nail. I used three coats for my nails.

Here's a comparison from left to right: one coat, two coats, and three coats.

The polish actually immediately had a dull texture and wasn't the super shiny gel finish that I like, but the shine did intensify over time as stated in the instructions.

If you feel like your nail is burning under the lamp, it is because there was too much polish. I had one or two of these experiences as the Gelnamel polish is actually very thick. I'm not sure if this was because of all the glitter.

Here are my finished nails :) Overall, I thought the process was very fast and easy. It has been about 5 days since I applied these on my nails and so far I only had two nails that completely peeled off. I know this is probably not a good thing for most users, but I was satisfied because 1) the polish didn't chip on any of my nails, which I dislike more than bare nails, and 2) the polish was not as abrasive as other gel manis and my nail is smooth. I think the next time I try the polish, I'll be more careful to cap the tip of the nails and see if that helps with the peeling.

Also, I liked the versatility of the LED lamp and the way it swings around to accommodate toes!

Ciaté Flower Manicure - "Boda Boom" Review

Hello! I'm Heather and this is my very first post on a blog! Rachel (Sunhyoung) and I have been in talks of getting this blog up and running for a while, but as always, I take a while before I take any action if I do at all--something I am trying to correct before the habit deters me from any more future opportunities. I always let fear get the best of me, and Rachel has been giving me pep talks and lots of motivation to swallow that fear and take action. Anyways, while we plan on posting about self-motivation and ways to overcome our fears as we figure them out, we also want to post about some of  the things that make us happy. Rachel is very talented with her make-up skills, and while I certainly need more practice (a LOT more practice) in that area, I love and am curious of cosmetics and make-up. I hope to post about my success and failures on this blog on some of these purchases made out of curiosity.

Moving on to my actual post!

I am always intrigued by the Ciaté nail polish sets, but I've always wondered on the practicality of the caviar and velvet nail kits. When I saw the flower kit, I thought I'd give it a try! Not long after purchasing this kit, I purchased a gel nail kit, and I couldn't go back to regular nail polish for over 6 months! So this kit has been sitting on my dresser for a while, until I took it out to finally test it out! (I needed a break from gel polish because my habit of picking them off has been horrible to my nails!)

The kit comes with a mini polish in ferris wheel, a full size of speed coat pro, two pots of dried flowers, a nice tweezer, and a nail file. I originally painted my toes with this kit, thus the toe separator made its way in this picture.

This was my first try using the kit on my nails. The nail polish was disappointing! It was thick and difficult to put on an even layer. I used three layers of polish before getting it to look less blotchy. The flowers were more 3D than I thought, and it was difficult to have all the petals of the flower stay on my nail.

So my first attempt did not last long, and the flowers started cracking at the ends. I removed the polish, and tried another look. This flower was much easier to apply, and it definitely helped that the polish I used only needed two thin layers.

I also tried applying the flowers on top of gel nail polish. Because the flowers wouldn't stay flat to my nails, I applied about three coats of top coat to cover all the gaps between the flower and my nail. It made my nail pretty thick! This method lasted the longest and I loved not having to wait for the nails to dry!

Overall, I think dried flowers are a fun way to change up your nails, especially in the spring :) I don't think I would purchase this kit again, but I will surely look to buy some dried flowers come next spring.

The book I am starting :)

I personally think that the only way for a person to grow is through experience. More experience you have, wiser you become and more ready to face adversity (the ultimate cause of the failure) in life.
Failure can also give great lessons to people but people often want to avoid failure. In order for you to reduce the chance of failing but to become wiser is to experience indirectly. I think that the most common ways are to watch television, to listen to others(talk in the radio), or to read. I’d like to choose reading because it can also help you THINK while reading. Reading in the eyes of the writer (whom may already have experienced what you have not have experienced yet and learned how to live wiser), the writer will be the mentor and you will eventually have a have better luck in your life.
I came across series of books published by DK publishing and I am going to start The Philosophy Book with the hope to become wiser after flipping over the last page. Please stay tuned.
